Reistad powers Esbjerg's win, Metz snatch dramatic MOTW
This round's EHF Champions League Women Match of the Week saw a topsy-turvy match between CSM Bucuresti and Metz Handball, with the French side extending their unbeaten run to six matches after a thrilling finish.
Team Esbjerg celebrated their third successive win on the road at Ludwigsburg, while in the first match of the day Storhamar Handball Elite secured their second win of the season (25:23) against CS Gloria 2018 BN in the rematch of the final of the EHF European League Women last season.
It was a really tough game, and I think Gloria were very good in their defence. We had a hard time in the second half, but we managed to keep our cool throughout the match.
It was a really good match. In the last period Storhamar played some good handball. They are faster and very aggressive in defence. This was our best game in the Champions League this season. I am proud of my players because they never gave up. Our problem was Storhamar's goalkeeper. We missed too many chances in the second half.
I am sad that we lost this game. We played a bad first half, and we were not strong enough in the end, we made some small mistakes in defence. We had some good minutes, but when we had to be strong we were not. Cristina Neagu had some problems with her arm, we took the chance in the beginning, but it was not good. That is why she did not play too much today.
It was a tough game between two really good teams. For us it was a mental game because we were in front and then they came back. In the first half I did not feel well. In the end I tried to change some things and I am very happy. I am proud how we stayed focused and won.
It is always special to play against a Danish team. Today we were very disappointed with the second half. Too often Anna Kristensen saved our chances with good saves. All in all, today was an advert for women's handball in a fast-paced game.
We had to compensate for a few absences. That is why we had to invest more to get this win. We are very proud and happy about this victory.
