We wrap up with the results of the round. Next weekend it's the last EHF Champions League Women action of 2022, so don't miss those games, especially the Match of the Week in Buducnost as they host Györ on Saturday.
18:15
Some words from Odense and Rapid - both wins were important and players and coaches know how important. These two teams are now fourth in groups A and B respectively, and with six matches left are in a fairly solid position when it comes to progressing - although not yet safe.

These four points in these two matches are very important. We were up against a strong opponent with many experienced players and we knew it would be a tough match both tactically and physically. Our defence was one of the keys to take the points today.Ulrik KirkelyCoach, Odense Håndbold
It was incredible, our supporters were as always the eighth player for us. With them we are capable of anything, we showed everyone once again that we are a team, we play together and no matter who comes here to play, we will fight and we will not give up the two points. We want to win every game.Dorina KorsósRight back, CS Rapid Bucuresti

17:34 | FULL-TIME
ODENSE Håndbold 26:22 KRIM MERCATOR LJUBLJANA
From 23:21, Odense score a 3:1 run to secure their win. It ended up being a closer game than last week's in Krim, but with the same result.
Dione Housheer is named Player of the Match, scoring seven goals from 11 shots and adding five assists. Althea Reinhardt was also useful in the closing minutes especially, finding a way to stop more shots and ending with 11 saves (35 per cent). However Barbara Arenhart also stood out, with 16 saves (38 per cent) overall.

STORHAMAR HANDBALL ELITE 25:27 WHC BUDUCNOST BEMAX
After winning by one goal last week at home, Buducnost manage to win by two this week away. Guro Nestaker's buzzer-beater for Storhamar was scant consolation for the home team.

17:22
Jovanka Radicevic has entered the battle! She's scored one and is generally making her presence felt as Krim come back to a two-goal deficit. They have just kept on attacking, and it's putting pressure on Odense now with about six minutes to play.
Dragan Adžic calls a timeout. Let's see if Krim can snatch at least a point from this.
Barbara Arenhart is trying everything to keep @RKKrim in this #MOTW! 👏 #ehfcl pic.twitter.com/SvCE274Ft4

17:13
Buducnost have jumped to a 23:20 lead against Storhamar after a 4:2 run, and Storhamar have a timeout to discuss getting back on terms. Armelle Attingré continues to be extraordinary in goal for the visitors, and Matea Pletikosic's seven goals aren't hurting either!
In MOTW Odense are clinging to a four-goal lead in a match that continues to be tighter than the scoreline would suggest. Dione Housheer picks up a two-minute suspension, but Daria Dmitrieva misses the shot soon after. Mind you, Housheer has earned a rest ...
What a performance from Dione Housheer! 7 goals and 3 assists after 45 minutes! 🔥#MOTW #ehfcl @hcodense pic.twitter.com/X3lPWic3ci
— EHF Champions League (@ehfcl) December 11, 2022
17:04
Ten minutes into the second half, and Odense have a four-goal lead - although Krim keep bringing it back to three, and that momentum the home team had at the end of the first half has slightly slipped away.
Buducnost still lead Storhamar by one goal.
16:52
Barbara Lazovic restarts things with a quick goal for Krim ... 30 minutes to decide MOTW!
16:40 | HALF-TIME
ODENSE Håndbold 15:11 KRIM MERCATOR LJUBLJANA
After taking the lead Odense kept the pressure on Krim, and going to the dressing rooms they have a decent cushion of four goals. A fifth was just denied as their last attack before the break ran out of time. Dione Housheer has stood out so far, with five goals, but nine of the 12 Odense field players have found the net; Aleksandra Rosiak leads the scoring for Krim with three.

STORHAMAR HANDBALL ELITE 12:13 WHC BUDUCNOST BEMAX
Over in Norway, an even match is taking place again and there's not much splitting Storhamar and Buducnost apart maybe from a better goalkeeping performance by Armelle Attingré, which means Storhamar's more aggressive attack isn't quite paying off.
16:31
Wow, what a shift in momentum. Odense take a 13:10 lead, with the last shot a beautiful in-flight effort from wing Ayaka Ikehara.
16:28
The pace is quite slow at the moment and MOTW is fairly level. Both sides are missing shots, although it's pretty disciplined - with only one suspension, for Odense, and three penalties awarded in total.
Ulrik Kirkely calls a timeout with seven minutes to go in the first half and the score at 10:10.
16:18
Odense are playing seven-on-six but it backfired when they turned over the ball and Allison Pineau scored into the empty net, Althea Reinhardt not quite getting to the goal on time. Still, when they return to attack they persist with the strategy. Krim lead 9:8.
In Hamar, it's level at 8:8.
Reinhardt, and Barbara Arenhart at the other end, have both had a decent start to the match.
Althea Reinhardt is on 🔥 to start off #MOTW! #ehfcl @hcodense pic.twitter.com/VCQOWoMQa4
— EHF Champions League (@ehfcl) December 11, 2022
16:10
Odense wasted no time on their first couple of attacks, swiftly gaining a 2:0 lead - but an early penalty taken by birthday girl Alja Varagic started the scoring off for Krim, and the visitors now trail by just one goal.
Yet to find the net: all-time Champions League top scorer Jovanka Radicevic, who moved to the head of the standings last week.
16:01
Both matches throw off. There's a lively and very orange crowd in Odense!
15:48
Moving on now to the last two matches of round 8, which throw off at 16:00 CET.
In group B, Storhamar will want to get revenge on Buducnost for last week's 23:24 loss in Montenegro and consolidate their position in sixth place in group B.
MOTW comes from group A. Odense currently sit fourth with four wins and three losses, including last week's victory against Krim; Krim are seventh with two wins and five losses and really need to win a couple of games to stay in contention for the play-offs.
Experienced Krim right back Alja Varagic celebrates her 32nd birthday today, and what better present would there be than a win?

15:34 | FULL-TIME
CS RAPID BUCURESTI 30:27 GyörI AUDI ETO KC
Inside the last minute Dorottya Faluvégi hits the post, and Rapid know they've done it. There's a last timeout from Carlos Viver just to steady Rapid's nerves, but they had enough of a cushion already.
It's a tremendous show from the home team, who become the second side (after Metz in round 3) to defeat Györ this season. The win means they go level with their opponents and Esbjerg with 12 points, although they remain in fourth place when the rankings are determined by goal difference.
Eliza Buceschi and Sorina Grozav are joint top scorers with seven goals each; Ivana Kapitanovic ends up with 16 saves (37.2 per cent), while Sandra Toft stops 10 shots (37 per cent) and Silje Solberg four (23.5 per cent).
15:24
A 3:0 run gives Rapid a 29:26 lead and Ambros Martin calls a timeout. "We still have a chance," Györ tell each other, but with just over four minutes on the clock they're running out of time and Ivana Kapitanovic has found the magic again. She's making save after save.
15:18
To the delight of the Rapid fans and the consternation of Ambros Martin, the hosts now lead by two goals once again. It's been a show of resilience by Rapid - it's not like Györ are playing badly at all.
📣 Rapid Bucuresti take the lead! With their ELECTRIC fans behind them, can they secure the victory? ⚡#ehfcl pic.twitter.com/ZD9sJM99Hs

15:09
Rapid are right back in the game! With Eliza Buceschi in particularly good form now they levelled the match at 20:20.
Meanwhile, here's Sandra Toft on fine form at the start of the half!
Another BIG save by a @audietokc_gyor goalkeeper 💪
— EHF Champions League (@ehfcl) December 11, 2022
This time it's Sandra Toft between the posts! What a duo the Hungarians have! 🔝💥#ehfcl pic.twitter.com/dPYclri8t1
15:03
This bit of play from the end of the first half shows how Györ managed to close up that gap and make this a much more equal game.
Lovely sequence from @audietokc_gyor! Yvette Broch with pinpoint precision! 🎯#ehfcl pic.twitter.com/rA6qfBiF8C
— EHF Champions League (@ehfcl) December 11, 2022
14:59
There is some simply brilliant goalkeeping going on in Bucharest. First Kapitanovic saves a penalty shot by Ryu Eun Hee, then Toft saves one at the other end from Eliza Buceschi.
Things are becoming quite physical, and Dorina Kórsos is suspended for two minutes for a foul. Nadine Schatzl misses the penalty too and we're getting on for four minutes with no goals.
14:50
The second half has just got started, and Stine Oftedal has picked up where she left off with a goal on Györ's first attack. Sandra Toft remains in goal for the visitors.
14:45
A chance to check out some of the best shots of the first half, and here's a gorgeous no-look goal from Lorena Ostase.
That's just spectacular! 😮#ehfcl pic.twitter.com/3vTbbkCCsv
— EHF Champions League (@ehfcl) December 11, 2022
14:38 | HALF-TIME
CS RAPID BUCURESTI 15:16 GyörI AUDI ETO KC
Györ captain Stine Oftedal nets her third goal three seconds before the buzzer and her team take their first lead of the match. The change in goal marked a change in the game, and Rapid suddenly found their opponents were more effective. Ivana Kapitanovic has also lost some of the stopping efficiency she had at the start of the game, giving Györ chances they have seized with both hands.
14:29
Györ have found an extra gear, and despite Anne Mette Hansen sitting out a suspension, have closed the gap to a single goal. Sandra Toft has replaced Silje Solberg in goal - what a luxury to have two such outstanding goalkeepers to play with.
14:21
At the 20-minute mark, Rapid are holding a three or four-goal lead and Györ are not able to decisively close the gap. A lot of this remains due to Ivana Kapitanovic, who just keeps making saves and is up to eight stops now (50 per cent).
14:13
Rapid are defending well and with Ivana Kapitanovic stellar between the posts, they have taken an 8:4 lead. Ambros Martin has called a timeout, reassuring Györ that they are playing well - they just need more accuracy in their shots.
14:04
Rapid got off to the ideal start thanks to a good Ivana Kapitanovic save and then an Irene Espinola goal, but things are settling down now and it's going goal for goal. Lots of flags and singing, and the green-clad Györ fans are going to have trouble making themselves heard!
13:58
Wow, the Rapid fans are already in full voice - there's a great atmosphere! Throw off is very soon.
13:45
Turning now to the first match up, Rapid vs Györ. Last week Györ broke Rapid's unbeaten streak with a 32:30 victory, but the Champions League debutantes have impressed throughout the first seven matches - winning four and drawing two. They have set themselves up as a team to be reckoned with in group B and one which the record champions will not be underestimating. Add to that success a sold-out Polivalenta Arena, and the scene is set for another exciting clash this afternoon.
Here's the Györ lineup!
13:30
Before things throw off, you've got time to pop over to Instagram and check out the Superfan talk. Odense line player Maren Aardahl caught up with Anja Althaus and a superfan to preview the match!
13:15
Welcome back to the second day of EHF Champions League Women round 8 action, starting in just 45 minutes as Rapid Bucuresti host Györ.
The game to watch out for, however, is of course Match of the Week between Odense and Krim. Odense won in Slovenia last week by six goals, but as EHF journalist Ida Hummeluhr found out when she spoke to Rikke Iversen, Odense are not underestimating their visitors.

We'll leave it there for tonight's live blog with highlight's from our most thrilling encounter and a reminder that you can enjoy all of today's highlights on The Home of Handball YouTube channel. More fun on the way on Sunday with three matches, including Match of the Week in Odense - see you then!
19:49
While the first of our headline matches was a bit one-sided today, Brest vs Bietigheim definitely didn't disappoint!
The victory gives Brest a bit of breathing space in the race for a play-off spot and now they can even set their sights on the top half of Group A.
CSM and Vipers have gone clear at the top of the group, three points ahead of Bietigheim.
Metz's win in Türkiye puts them top of Group B, though Györ will have a chance to rectify that on Sunday.

Fire from Brest Bretagne in the final minutes and they unlock the shackles and storm to victory with a 6:2 run in the final eight minutes. This feels like a big win for Brest and the players' reactions show exactly that - a turning point for their European campaign?

19:10
While Brest and Bietigheim remain neck-and-neck, 23:23 after 46 minutes, Vipers and Esbjerg are dishing out the pain in the other games. Vipers' Borjesson having a field day in goal and on the Most side, Charlotte Cholevová has scored 11 of their 16 goals.

Alicia Toublanc scores three in a row, all of Brest's second-half goals, and the home side are level. Now it is up to Bietigheim to respond and find a way to regain control.
18:48
Almost time to get the action back underway and you have to feel that the goalkeeper battle will define this second half.
Cleopatre Darleux started to get going late in the half with seven saves by the break, while Bietigheim's Gabriela Gonclaves managed just two. More of the same and Brest will have a real chance to turn this game around.
18:36
Vipers Kristiansand (NOR) 18:10 DHK Banik Most (CZE)
Brest Bretagne Handball (FRA) 17:18 SG BBM Bietigheim (GER)
Team Esbjerg (DEN) 18:13 HC Lokomotiva Zagreb (CRO)
A late flourish by Brest brings them back within a single goal and it could have been better if Djurdjina Jaukovic were not denied by the crossbar with the first half's final shot.
In Scandinavia, there appears to be no hint of a shock on the cards. Vipers and Esbjerg in commanding positions at the midway point. Curiously, all three leading teams scored 18 in the first half...

18:31
It's a tight match in France but the early lead Bietigheim built is making the difference as we head towrds half-time. 18:15 to the German side as both teams are scoring with ease.
18:25
Team Esbjerg are having a near-perfect day at the office in front of goal. 14 goals from 16 shots and they lead by five. Nora Mørk has scored four already and this is perhaps her best of the lot, selling three defenders down the river.

Bietigheim begin to pile on the pressure with their defence and have taken a 12:8 lead at the quarter-hour mark. Excellent work forcing turnovers, anchored by the trio of Kim Naidzinavicius, Kaba Gassama and Xenia Smits.
18:13
Markéta Jerábková put on a masterclass against her former club last week and she appears to be on course to repeat it tonight. 3 goals already and Vipers lead 7:3.

18:08
As we hoped, both teams going as this at full speed in the opening minutes, trading goals for the opening 8 minutes. Not much to shout about for the two goalkeepers, who will start making the big saves first?
17:50
Our focus will begin with Brest vs Bietigheim, so here are some things of note before we get started.
- after a two-game winless run, Bietigheim have dropped from first place in terms of the teams with the best attack in the competition. They now rank fifth, with 225 goals in seven matches, and Brest are second to last, with 170 goals scored
- the German side’s attacking woes have plagued them. They boasted an average of 35.2 scored goals per game after the first five matches, but their last two, a loss against Odense and a draw against Brest, had an average of 24.5 goals per game
- with only two wins and a draw in the first seven matches, this is Brest’s worst start to a season since their debut in the Champions League, 2017/18
- midway through the group phase, Brest are currently in sixth place in the standings, the last to send a team to the play-offs, with five points, one more than Krim
- after their strongest start ever in the European premium competition, Bietigheim have faltered and secured only two wins in their last five matches, with the last game being a 25:25 draw against Brest
- Bietigheim head coach Markus Gaugisch said: "We saw on Sunday that Brest have a great team. The squad is stocked with insane quality. We gave everything we could and got a point from the top team despite our lack of personnel. I am sure that we will also fight for a chance in Brest. We have a lot to gain in our current situation."
17:40
One pair of games in the books, three more to come at 18:00 CET.
Vipers Kristiansand (NOR) vs DHK Banik Most (CZE)
Brest Bretagne Handball (FRA) vs SG BBM Bietigheim (GER)
Team Esbjerg (DEN) vs HC Lokomotiva Zagreb (CRO)
In last week's meetings, Vipers and Esbjerg won with ease, while Brest and Bietigheim could not be separated. More of the same this evening? We'll find out shortly.

FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria (HUN) 29:33 CSM Bucuresti (ROU)
Kastamonu Belediyesi GSK (TUR) 23:28 Metz Handball (FRA)
Funny how the final minutes can change the perception on a game. The tight match sees Kastamonu lose by five goals, while the one-sided game ends with a four-goal win after FTC's late surge.
CSM Bucuresti could afford to take their foot off the gas in the final minutes as their assured performance ensured they go clear at the top of Group A, for the next few hours at least.
While Metz take temporary control of Group B after their much-improved second half set them apart against a spirited Kastamonu.

Full credit to Kastamonu, they are not letting this one go without a fight. The Turkish club battled back within two goals before letting the intensity slip. Now they trail 26:22 and have just four minutes to salvage something.
17:15
CSM Bucuresti continue to attack and score with ease, enjoying a 71% attacking efficiency this afternoon. 31:22 with 8 minutes remaining and the points are heading back to Romania.

Kastamonu relied a lot on the goals of Simone Bohme and Samara Da Silva in the first half and now that they are not finding a way through, their overall attack is struggling.
No such problems for Metz, who have spread the love with 10 scorers so far and lead 21:18 with 13 minutes left to play.
17:04
As expected, Metz have come out after the break with renewed vigor and they hold an 18:16 lead after 42 minutes.

9 saves by Marie Davidsen (45%) and a well-rounded attack has provided CSM with all they need to control this contest in Budapest. FTC flattering to deceive and half-time couldn't come quickly enough. They have the tools to turn this around but can they figure out how to use them in the dressing room?
Meanwhile, Louise Burgaard scores a direct free throw after the half-time buzzer to draw Metz level against Kastamonu. We'd expect the French side to press on from here but their hosts seem in no mood to roll over today.

Crina Pintea is a real source of agony for FTC as they cannot solve how to keep her under wraps and cover the space she is creating. 4 goals for the Romanian line player and CSM lead 16:11.

16:23
FTC's defence is keeping them in this contest at the moment because their attack certainly isn't helping. A few moments of magic from Katrin Klujber has inspired the home side but they still trail CSM - 11:9 after 21 minutes.
16:12
This clash between FTC and CSM jumps out to me because they are two teams that are so difficult to predict. On paper, both have the potential to beat anyone else on a given day and sometimes they do. On some days, however, they simply do not produce the goods.
So far this season, CSM Bucuresti have been the more consistent side and it is showing so far today, 7:3 after 11 minutes. Still a long way to go though, let's see what the two teams provide us with.
16:06
Strong start between the posts for CSM keeper Marie Davidsen, making three saves in a row. FTC finally get on the board after five minutes and thankfully for them, they were not punished by the guests - 2:1 to Bucharest.
15:51
Not long to wait until we get our opening games underway. You can watch both simultaneously, if you desire, and we'll keep an eye on both but focus on FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria vs CSM Bucuresti - a star-studded match with ramifications on the top and mid-table in Group A!
15:36
Round 8 of the group phase is always super interesting because it sees teams facing off for the second time in a week, so we'll see which teams were able to learn their lessons and implement any tactical changes to ensure a positive result today.
That will be most evident in France, where Brest welcome Bietigheim following a thrilling draw last week.
Here is a look back at that game!
